I had quite a bit more written about this experience, but I guess my review was too long so I had to cut out talking to their "help line. Guess that's a separate review.
Quick assistance in selling me what I wanted. Easy check out. Prices are affordable. Only reason for a 4 was they charge for a local delivery if the item isn't over $300.
Not a deal breaker, but slightly annoying.
I have always chosen Lowe's over Home Depot. I've always appreciated the friendly help and the people that were very knowledgeable of their jobs. But I was in the Lowe's at Middletown Delaware yesterday Friday August 25th around 1 p.m. and I was never so disappointed and so discouraged and all my life in the Lowe's. The people that work there we're standing around 2 3 4 in a group they acted as though they could care less if they helped anyone there were a couple of them even on their cell phones. I was at 2 station and I had to ask for help by going to find someone that was walking around and ask them to send someone to the station I was at which was tile flooring and then Roofing. After yesterday's experience I'm seriously thinking about giving up on Lowe's and switch over to Home Depot or some other lumber yard
I have to move and needed to get some moving supplies, so I load up 2 boxes of flooring in the truck that I had left over from a project I never got around to doing. Somehow I was able to find the receipt for it while packing my house, and the bag of tools that I hadn't touched since the day they were bought with the flooring into Lowe's to do the return. The bag of Blue Hawk tools was supposed to be on the "My Lowe's" card. As soon as I walked in and saw the nasty look on Donna, the customer service rep's face I knew I was going to leave frustrated. She looked sour, like she was chewing on a lemon for the past 12 hours. I still needed my boxes though, so I greeted her in a friendly manner and stated my intentions for my visit. It was at that point she started to huff and puff a bit. I didn't let that bother me. She started looking up the items on my receipt. A few moments later without excusing herself, she picked up a ringing phone and started helping (I use that term loosely here) someone on the other end of the phone while rolling her eyes about whatever that customer was telling her. I was getting a little frustrated at this point. Donna then puts the phone down and walks away from the counter into the back room. I think at this point that there were quite a few other ways she could have handled this situation, like asking the customer on the phone if they could hold for a moment while she finished with her customer, but that never happened. She eventually came back to the counter and started fumbling with my receipt again. Mind you I've been here for close to 15 minutes now dealing with Donna and her terrible attitude. A few minutes later she gave me a nasty look, and in an extremely snarky tone she barked "this is from almost 2 years ago". I said "I realize that, the receipt has a date on it." She says, "you can't return this" again in a snarky tone, then just stares at me. I get that it was a little while ago since I purchased it, and I wasn't looking for cash back, I just needed moving supplies, and I did have my receipt. It wasn't like I was trying to cheat anyone, I was just having a rough time and was trying to be treated like a human. She made me feel terrible. So at this point I'm somewhat embarrassed by the scene she is making. She grabs the bag of other items, opens it, then starts pushing buttons on her computer, and then yells "this product isn't even from our store!" Now mind you, I had never even taken it out of the Lowe's bag it came in. I know damn good and well it was from their store, and by this point I am mortified by this woman's attitude towards me. I said "yes, it is from your store, I could show you the shelf I got it from?" Then it sank in a bit and I will admit, I completely lost my temper around the 15 minute mark of this interaction. She thought I was trying to pull a fast one apparently. The problem is that the items in that bag were Blue Hawk tools!!! That's Lowe's own store brand! This disgusting woman doesn't even know the product of the store she is so poorly representing. I couldn't take it any more. I yelled something like "put the damn tools back in the bag! I'm done dealing with you and your miserable attitude!" Now I admit that I was wrong for yelling at her and letting her bring me down to her miserable level, but I just couldn't deal with her for another second.
The staff at Lowes are unhelpful and unwilling to do any extra work to help customers. My brand new fride/freezer breaks in the middle of the night and customer service refused to help. Instead of looking up my information they wouldn’t help me without a reciept. Management was also usless. Please do not buy appliances from this department.
I sometimes wonder why the isles are numbered weird, and why some of the outdoor equipment is actually inside. Put outdoor tools outdoors, or put them just inside.
